Send One Page of a PDF: Tools and Steps

Extract one page before you share a PDF

To send one page of a PDF, save that page as a new PDF file, then attach or share the new file. You can do this with Adobe Acrobat, a trusted online PDF tool, Chrome’s print feature, or Preview on a Mac. The steps take only a few minutes.

This works well when a report has dozens of pages but someone needs just one form, receipt, or chart. The original file stays unchanged. Before sharing, check that the page does not include private details you meant to keep out of view.

Choose a method based on your device, software, and privacy needs. Here are the main options.

  • Use Acrobat for page-level controls and regular work.
  • Use an online tool for a quick task, if the file is safe to upload.
  • Use Chrome or Mac Preview when you want to avoid installing extra software.

Method 1: Extract a page in Adobe Acrobat

Adobe Acrobat lets you pull out one page and save it as a separate file. Open the PDF, then choose the tool for organizing pages. Select the page you need and choose the extract option. The exact menu names may vary by Acrobat version.

Turn on the option to save the selected page as a separate file. If you do not see that choice, extract the page first, then save the new document with a clear name. For example, name a single invoice page “March invoice” rather than “Document 1.”

Acrobat’s instructions for extracting PDF pages explain the built-in page tools. Check the saved file before sending it. It should contain the page you chose, not the whole source document.

This method is useful when you handle PDFs often or need to pick several pages. For a one-off task, a browser or online tool may be quicker.

Method 2: Use an online PDF tool

Online PDF tools can split a file without a desktop app. Open a well-known service, choose its page extraction or split feature, and upload the PDF. Enter the page number you want, then run the tool and download the new file.

Check the page numbering before you start. A PDF’s printed page label may not match its position in the file. For instance, the page marked “1” might be the third page if the cover and contents pages come first.

Online tools are handy when you work on a shared or temporary device. Still, think about the file before uploading it. Avoid web tools for records with health, finance, legal, or personal details unless your organization approves that service.

After the download, open the extracted file and confirm its contents. Then remove the uploaded source from the service if it offers a clear delete option. Read the service’s privacy terms when the document is sensitive.

Method 3: Save a page from Chrome’s PDF viewer

Chrome can save chosen pages from a PDF through its print dialog. Open the PDF in Chrome, then press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on a Mac. In the destination menu, choose “Save as PDF.”

Find the page range setting and enter the page number you want. To save page 4, type 4 in the range box. Check the preview, then select Save and choose where to store the new PDF.

This method is quick when the file is already open in your browser. It can also work with a PDF opened from your computer. If Chrome shows a print dialog from your device instead, switch the destination to a PDF option before saving.

Open the saved file to check that it contains one page. A range entered in the wrong field can create a full copy or leave out the page you need.

Method 4: Extract a page with Preview on Mac

Mac users can use Preview, which comes with macOS. Open the PDF in Preview and choose View, then Thumbnails, so each page appears in the sidebar. Select the page you want to send.

To make a separate file, drag the selected thumbnail onto your desktop or into a Finder folder. Preview creates a new PDF with that page. Give it a useful name and open it once to check the result.

You can select more than one thumbnail if you need a few pages in one file. Hold Command while choosing separate pages, or Shift to select a run of pages. Then drag the selected thumbnails out together.

Keep the original PDF open until you confirm the new file is right. If dragging does not work in your macOS version, use the print dialog and save only the chosen page as a PDF.

Send the extracted page safely

Once the page is saved as its own PDF, you can email it as an attachment or share it through a file-sharing service. For email, start a new message, add the recipient, attach the extracted file, and check the attachment name before sending. This is the simplest way to send one page of a PDF by email.

If the file is too large for email, use a cloud storage link instead. Set access for the intended recipient, and avoid a public link when the page is private. Check the sharing settings before you copy the link into your message.

Use a few quick checks before you share:

  • Open the new PDF and confirm it has the right page.
  • Check for private notes, names, or account details on that page.
  • Use a clear file name that helps the recipient recognize it.
  • Send the file or link to the right person, then check access if needed.

Sending a separate page is safer and clearer than sending a large file and asking someone to find the right section. It also makes the attachment easier to open on a phone.

Choose the method that fits your file

If you are wondering, “How do I send only one page of a PDF?”, the key step is to create a new PDF containing that page. Acrobat offers more page controls. Online tools suit quick jobs, while Chrome and Preview are handy built-in choices.

After you extract the page, verify it and share it by email or a private file link. That small check helps prevent mistakes and keeps the original document intact.
